EIN — Employer Identification Number in the USA

The EIN (Employer Identification Number) is your company’s tax identification number with the IRS, the US tax authority. It is the equivalent of a Spanish CIF or a UK Company Number, but for tax purposes in the United States.

Why do I need an EIN?

  • Open a US bank account: American banks always require it
  • Register on payment platforms: Stripe USA, PayPal Business and similar services require it
  • Comply with the IRS: it is necessary to file annual tax returns (such as Form 5472)
  • Hire American services and suppliers that require tax identification

How do I obtain it?

Aiden requests the EIN from the IRS on your behalf using form SS-4. For non-residents without an SSN (US Social Security Number), the process is handled by fax or mail and typically takes between 4 and 8 weeks. Once approved, the EIN automatically appears in your dashboard, in the My LLC section.

Do I need it if I have no employees?

Yes. Despite its name («Employer Identification Number»), the EIN is necessary even if you have no employees. You need it for banking, payments, and tax obligations—not just for hiring staff.

Is it included in my plan?

The Standard LLC plan includes a step-by-step guide so you can apply for it yourself. The PRO LLC plan includes full EIN management: Aiden handles the entire IRS process for you.

💡 Tip: apply for your EIN as soon as possible after forming your LLC. Since the IRS can take several weeks, the sooner you start, the sooner you can open your bank account and start receiving payments.
